Each time we recall a memory we change it a little.
Your memory would be more accurate if you seldom retrieved past events.
Instead, each instance of recollection imbues those past events with your current mood and inner ideas of self.
Each time the echo becomes less and less like what happened. Romanticised; polemicised; polarised…. fictionalised?
Does the narrative we weave help us to construct reality or stand in the way?
